Squares

So its been two weeks since I bought the yarn for the afghan and I've gotten four squares done and I'm half way through number five. So far so good! I changed a few colours around because I like how they look.
So far I've finished the gingerbread man, wreath, Rudolph, and Santa. They all came out great! I haven’t started weaving in the ends yet which I know I said from the beginning I would do as I went along but when I catch up on watching Halloween movies I will catch up on weaving them in. At least that’s my plan for now.

Now I thought I did all the math before I went shopping and got enough of each colour, turns out I should have triple checked. Oops. So I have already gone back to pick up more luckily I still got the same deal. I would recommend getting at least two skeins of most colours because there are a lot of times you are working the same colour at the same time at opposite end of a square.

Note: Vanna’s choice is not an easy yarn to work with from the center of the ball. I don’t know if it’s just me but every time I tried to find the end in the middle I ended up pulling half the ball apart. I haven’t found this to be an issue with other yarns I work with. It is still very nice to work with and still soft and durable for a blanket. Also nice colour options which is always a bonus.

That's all for now! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Place

Where is your happy place? Mine is definitely the yarn aisle! And getting a good deal is great! Using coupons and helping myself save money makes me fell accomplished. Vanna's choice was on sale this week for 3.99 and I got an extra 40% of my total. I paid $65 for 24 balls of yarn. Two is them aren't Vanna's because they discontinued little boy blue. I picked up loops & threads impeccable in clear blue. It was the closest to the original colour I could find.

Now that Thanksgiving has passed here in Canada it’s full on Halloween at my house. I’ll post pictures of our decoration on Instagram. Find them @chrissyjulrich Have a good week!

Little things

This week has been super busy so I have only been crocheting a little in the evenings. I’ve been using up some more stash yarn and making some small projects. I’ve made a few pairs of boot cuffs, a wine bottle holder, and a couple of warm headbands. No patterns used just making it up as I go along. I didn’t want to start anything with a pattern because the afghan is going to involve a lot of attention. Speaking of which I am going to pick up the yarn tomorrow evening! It has gone on sale this week for I think 20% off, and that’s better than full price. I’m still really excited to start working on it! Any ways here are some pictures of my finished projects from this week.

Next week I will for sure have the yarn to show you. I’m also hoping to have at least one square done. I might put the yarn haul up this week depending on how excited I am. Come back and check it out!

I hope even one that was celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend had a great time.

Crochet Christmas Afghan

So I've been out of the crochet game for a while, but every so often I get an email, text or Facebook message from a family member asking for a crochet project. Which always makes my day! Last week I got a message from my cousin asking for Repeat Crafter Me’s Crochet Christmas afghan. (Check out her blog for all of the instructions. It’s written very well and she is lovely.)  At first I wasn't sure if she was being serious because I knew it was going to be a lot of work and very expensive. I did some research and pricing and let her know, she was still interested! (Which made me so excited I did a little dance.)

I started working on one of the squares with yarn I had in my stash. I first did the Santa.

This is worked in C2C stitch. The Crochet Crowd has a video tutorial here which I used to learn this stitch. I did do it in the DC stitch using a 4.5mm hook.

While waiting for the yarn to go on sale I had enough yarn on hand to do another square. So I started the snowman. This I worked in HDC like Sarah (RepeatCrafterMe) just to see the difference. They are both nice but I think I like the look of the DC stich better. I also comes out larger with it being a different stitch. So Santa is about 17 by 17 inch square and the snowman is 14.5 by 14.5 inch square both with a 4.5mm hook.

I had so much fun working on these. It was great getting back into the crochet game. Keep checking back for progress. I'm hoping to have this done by the end of November. I am really hoping that the yarn (Vanna's Choice) goes on sale next week if not I may have a sneaking "in" at my local yarn store that can get me a deal.

Born Pretty Store Haul

Another Haul! I know I've been shopping a lot lately but I'm a girl it's in my blood.
I placed an order from bornprettystore. I like this site because its cheap really cheap.
I only got two nail art related items this time. The first things are these two nail wrap sticker things. The first is a floral which will be perfect for summer and the second pack are stormy tree branches, and the back ground glows in the dark! There are 14 in each pack and they are all different sizes. ($2.99 & $1.58)
The second nail art item I got are these rhinestones. The colours are purple, green, orange, yellow, blue, and pink and there NEON!. There are circle and squares in each colour. There are 400 pieces in there. I'm a little sad that they got mixed up inside but there was none in the bag it came in so I didn't lose any which means good packaging. These will be so good for summer nail art. ($4.19)
Next is this seven leave necklace in a brass colour its super cute and will be good for Summer and Fall. I have already worn this to a bridal shower and got lots of compliments! ($3.68)
Now last time I got a bracelet similar to this one in black, it had different charms but the same idea and I found this one and loved it even more so I had to get it. These bracelets are adjustable which is always nice. ($2.99)

I might have gone a little over board but I have been really into rings lately especially knuckle rings. These seven came together in a pack. They are all different except for two. My favourite one is definitely the bow.  ($1.99)
More rings! The first is a silver fish, under that one is a rope knot ring that fits my thumb, there are two leaf rings silver and gold. An arrow which I really like and two gold chevron rings, which I'm wearing right now! ($0.89-1.39)
And my last fashion kind of thing is this bur-berry scarf. Its so cute and will be perfect for spring under my new rain coat. ($3.99)
Last and probably my favourite are these iPhone cases. They are so cute I cant wait to use all of them. The first one is a flower, the second is a colourful night sky kind of scene, and the last one is a moustache. ($1.85-2.59) And I actually ordered another phone case but it wasn't in my package so I emailed and hopefully I get that soon.
Because this site is so cheap you can't expect to much when it comes to quality and customer service and that kind of stuff. It is based in Hong Kong I believe so there are translation errors but they do resolve matter quickly. Just pay attention to shipping date. Both of my orders from them were late arriving. And check the internet for coupon codes so you can save even more!

Forever 21 Haul

So I went to Forever 21 this week looking for a statement necklace to where to a wedding social. And let me tell you that was the right place to go! I did find a beautiful necklace unfortunately it doesn't look right with my dress but that's okay because I like it so much I've already found other outfits to wear it with. I got this necklace for $12.46.

Some of the jewellery was 30% off so of course I didn't just look for necklaces. I picked up two sets of earrings. Bows in gold, teal, and orange for $3.36 and a pair of pearls and a pair of black flower for $1.26.
I also picked up a pair of black shorts for $15.80 but no picture of those because they're in the wash.

The last thing I got was nail polish! I picked up three bottles, the first one is Confetti Nail Color in Mint/White. The second colour I picked up was Lavender, and the third was Miami Pink. I'm wearing Lavender on my nails right now and it's the perfect Spring colour. I'm going to try out Miami Pink either later today or tomorrow maybe.

Anyway love Forever 21 always pretty cheap I got for jewellery mostly but the clothes and shoes are good too. I really like the nail polish I find it lasts a long time the colours are always nice and they are only $3.80. Yea great shopping if you haven't been a bit over whelming but that's part of the fun.

Computer

So it has been awhile but I have a good excuse. I finally got a laptop! I cant really tell you anything about it because I am clueless when it comes to computers. I can use them but I'm pretty much an old person. All I know is its an Acer and its grey it has an Intel core i7 chip thing and its a touch screen! I also got the most adorable cordless mouse! It has two little birds and some branches on it and it was on sale!
So I hope that in the future I will be posting regularly and I got some photo editing programs so hopefully I'll  also have some nice pictures up too.
